Fish Story
December 4th, 2008 by Mike | No Comments | Filed in WeirdBill Driver, who lives in Wichita, KS, saw a ball bouncing around kind of strange in the lake and went to investigate. It turned out to be a flathead catfish who had obviously tried to swallow a basketball which
became stuck in its mouth!!
The fish was totally exhausted from trying to dive, but unable to because the ball would always bring him back up to the surface. Bill tried numerous times to get the ball out, but was unsuccessful. He finally had his wife, Pa
m, cut the ball in order to deflate it and release the hungry catfish. You probably wouldn’t have believed this, if you hadn’t seen the following pictures…

November 12th, 2008 by Mike | 9 Comments | Filed in Interesting, WeirdThe Uberman sleep schedule is a method of organizing your sleeping time to maximize your REM sleep and minimize your non-REM sleep. The goal of the sleep cycle is that you are actively in REM sleep within a couple of minutes of falling asleep and remain in that state until you awaken. I originally read about the schedule on everything2.
In essence, someone utilizing the Uberman sleep schedule is actively modifying their sleeping habits so that they can immediately jump from waking to a few minutes worth of stage 1 sleep straight to stage 5 REM sleep, as described in this discussion of sleep stages.
It is important to note that there are no studies as to the long-term physical or physiological impact of this sleep cycle. I really don’t know if this cycle is causing long-term damage to myself or not, and if this concerns you, I wouldn’t attempt the cycle. However, the benefits are fantastic.

November 12th, 2008 by Mike | No Comments | Filed in FrickMeOut, WeirdLook at the top picture and you can see where this guy broke through
the crash barrier (right side where the people are standing on the road).
His truck left the road, traveling from right to left. He flipped
end-over-end, across the culvert outlet and landed on the left side of it.
Now look at the picture below.

X-ray Photos… Metal in the head
November 5th, 2008 by Mike | No Comments | Filed in FrickMeOut, Weird
In this post you will see some freaked out photos of x-rays. I wonder how people survived after those incidents.
Leonard Woronowicz, 63, had such a terrible headache that he was forced to go the hospital to check it out. The doctors pulled out a 12 cm long blade from his head. Four days earlier he had fallen from a chair in the kitchen and apparently the knife had hit him in the head. He did not realize what had happened, not even when he couldn’t find the blade to the knife. He later left the hospital with no permanent injuries.
